Aguilar New EXPLORE Innovation Pathway Co-Lead

Please join the EXPLORE Program in welcoming Dr. Patrick Aguilar, MD, MBA, who will serve as the new Innovation Pathway Co-Lead, joining Dr. Linda Wu. Professor Doug Villhard has stepped down from his position with EXPLORE. Dr. Aguilar is currently the Managing Director of Health at the Olin School of Business.

By background, Dr. Aguilar is a pulmonary/critical care physician and has served as Director of ECMO at Baylor University Medical Center, Director of Medical Critical Care at Barnes-Jewish Hospital and Division Chief for Pulmonary/Critical Care Medicine at Endeavor Health in Chicago.  He also worked as Chief Medical Officer for QuikTrip, launching a network of urgent care clinics (MedWise) and developing an internally managed network of primary care clinics for QuikTrip employees and their families (QuikMed).  Previously, while on faculty at WashU, he served as the inaugural leader for the Innovation Pathway for EXPLORE as well as leader of the consolidated MD/MBA program. Currently, he leads Olin’s efforts to build institutional and industrial partnerships on commercialization, research, and academic programming around the business of health. He also maintains a clinical practice in pulmonary medicine at WashU Medicine.

Dr. Aguilar earned his MD from the University of Texas Medical Branch and his MBA from Olin.  He completed a residency in internal medicine at UT Health San Antonio and his fellowship in pulmonary/critical care medicine at WashU/BJH.
