Menu of Activities
The Menu of Activities includes Foundational, Case-Based, and Client/Patient activities and allows programs to select curriculum that best fits their learners. CIPE’s content is offered in a non-sequential manner. Participation credits (and/or grades) are assigned through learners’ home institutions and individual programs.
Foundational Activities include core interprofessional content based on the Interprofessional Education Collaborative competency domains, taught in the first year. This content is delivered within each discipline’s home institution with materials provided by CIPE.
Case-Based sessions involve at least two health profession programs, with no simulated or community-facing clients/patients present. These activities include CIPE’s IP Case Day, Ethics Case Discussions, and Reassessment Rounds. These activities are open to all collaborating professions.
Learners engage with real or simulated clients/patients in a supervised environment. Opportunities include the Standardized Patient Team Experience (SPTE), a hands-on experience with multiple health care professions depending on program availability (medicine, nursing, occupational therapy, pharmacy, and physical therapy).

The CIPE Curriculum & Assessment Committee (CAC) designs CIPE’s IPE curriculum and learner assessment in collaboration with individual programs and makes data-driven recommendations for curricular revisions as appropriate. Each institution has a representative on the CAC.
