Day Named New Medical Director of Student Health Services

I am very pleased to announce that Dr. Caroline Day will join Washington University School of Medicine as the next Medical Director of Student Health Services on October 14, 2024!

Dr. Day comes to us from Family Care Centers in St Louis, where she has cared for patients since 2007 and served as the Associate Medical Director of Forest Park Southeast (2011-17) and Chief Medical Officer (2017-present). In these roles, she has ensured the delivery of high quality, comprehensive care to some of the most vulnerable individuals in the St. Louis Metro Area while training residents and students from Saint Louis University and medical students from Washington University. She is widely regarded as an exceptional clinician who is passionate about healthcare provider wellbeing. Among other roles, she previously served in the UCSF Family Medicine Residency Program as a faculty member, and in the UCSD Division of Family Medicine as the Director of Clinical Quality. Dr. Day completed her medical school training at Washington University School of Medicine and her residency training in Family Medicine at UCSF. Please join me in welcoming Dr. Day!

I would like to take this opportunity to thank the search committee led by Dr. Cole Schulte and Mark Prosperi, including Dr. Steve Ambler, Betty Feagans, Dr. Lenin Grajo, Dr. Steve Mennerick, Dr. Tammy Sonn, and Dr. Matt Sullivan. You did a truly outstanding job—thank you!

I would also like to again thank Dr. Karen Winters. Dr. Winters has made Student Health what it is today and has cared selflessly for the health and sciences students for over 25 years. Her leadership, clinical excellence and compassion have been exceptional. I would also like to thank Dr. Cathy Hermann, Betty Feagans, and the entire Student Health Services team for supporting our students in this interim phase. Our students are in excellent hands now and in the future!
