On June 18th Emily Thompson, Ph.D. joined the Office of Medical Student Education as the Director of the Educational Technology and Innovation Unit. Emily comes to OMSE with 20 years of experience in academic technology and higher education management. Before arriving at Washington University in 2016, Emily was the Senior Manager of Instructional Technology for the Terry College of Business at the University of Georgia, where she launched their first online BBA degree program, among other key accomplishments.
Since 2016, Emily has been the Interim Director of Instructional Technology at Olin Business School and a key leader and designer of the current university-wide transition from Blackboard to Canvas. We are thrilled that she will bring her forward-looking view of educational technology and extensive change management experience to our coming MD curriculum renewal process.
