Asher Joins OE Health Services Team

We are excited to announce that Dr. Jaron Asher will be joining the Office of Education beginning February 3rd as Staff Psychiatrist. In this role, Dr. Asher will care for our School of Medicine student population through his work with Student Health Services. He will report to Dr. Caroline Day and lead our Graduate Medical Education mental health program, overseeing the team of mental health providers who support our residents and fellows. Dr. Asher brings a wealth of experience and expertise in adult psychiatry and adolescent mental health, and we are confident that he will be a valuable addition to the Office of Education’s mental health services team.

Dr. Asher is a Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association and a member of the American Association of Community Psychiatrists. Dr. Asher has completed specialized fellowships in cognitive therapy and Gestalt psychotherapy, and completed his Psychiatry residency at Saint Louis University, earning his MD from the University of Missouri, Columbia. He has served as Chief Behavioral Health Officer at Family Care Health Centers (FCHC) and previously held the role of Medical Director at Places for People, a Community Mental Health Center in St. Louis, Missouri. His clinical experience includes private practice as well as positions at the Veterans Administration (VA) Hospital in St. Louis, and the Metropolitan St. Louis Psychiatric Center. Dr. Asher’s academic background includes Instructor and Assistant Professor roles in SLU’s Department of Psychiatry, and he has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in St. Louis for his exceptional work in the field.
