Dr. Amanda Ortmann Named Interim Director of Audiology Studies

Dr. Amanda Ortmann has been named as Interim Director of Audiology Studies in the Program in Audiology and Communication Sciences (PACS), effective August 1, 2018. Dr. Ortmann succeeds Dr. Maureen Valente, longtime Director, who is transitioning toward retirement. In this role, she will provide leadership and direction to the Washington University School of Medicine’s Doctor of Audiology (Au.D.) program, a four-year clinical training program for audiologists. Dr. Ortmann is uniquely qualified to assume this position. She completed her Master of Science in Speech and Hearing (Audiology) at Washington University in 2003 and went on to earn her Ph.D. in Communication Sciences and Disorders at University of Pittsburgh. She returned to Washington University as a clinical audiologist from 2008-2013 before expanding her research efforts as a post-doc at University of Southern California. She returned to Washington University in 2016 and now serves as an Assistant Professor in PACS and the Department of Otolaryngology.
