Dr. Donna Windish will join us from Yale University for faculty development in education research and scholarship on Thursday, February 27 and Friday, February 28, 2020. Dr. Windish completed her BA at Cornell, MD at the University of Connecticut, and MPH at the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health. At Yale, Dr. Windish is Associate Professor of Medicine (General Medicine), Director of the ACES (Advancement of Clinician-Educator Scholarship) Faculty Development Program in Internal Medicine, Director of Resident Research for the Yale Primary Care Residency Program, and Program Director of the General Internal Medicine Medical Education Fellowship. Education is one of her priority research interests, with publications on topics such as teaching medical students about the importance of communication for clinical reasoning, burnout and coping strategies among interns, the link between patient/provider communication and the culture of safety. Dr. Windish will offer workshops on basic statistical approaches for education research and building your network for education scholarship. She will also offer 1:1 consultations for faculty, residents, or fellows seeking recommendations for education scholarship or research projects.

a. Study designs
b. Variable types
c. Exploratory data analysis
d. Confirmatory (inferential) data analysis
e. Hypothesis testing
f. Basic interpretation of results
2. Practice a 4-step approach to choosing a statistical test using the case with provided examples.
Individual Consultations (1/2 hour each)
1:00-5:00 pm: Individual consultations are available to discuss building a network for education research or recommendations for a research or scholarship project in education.
